BULEGA ON GOOD FORM AT SPIELBERG

Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 had a long-awaited positive day at the Red Bull Ring, with an important result to build on in this second and last Austrian weekend of racing. Nicolò Bulega is the one well representing the banner of the Italian squad by finishing the opening day of action in fourth place (1’28.814).

The Italian was only 81 thousandths of a second away from the quickest time of today set by Lowes, and tomorrow he will likely be in Q2, which is a goal that can be with Edgar Pons’s reach too, as the Spaniard was 19th today with a time of 1’29.558 and with two tenths to recover in order to avoid Q1.

At the moment, it is unlikely that the weather forecast will affect tomorrow’s FP3 (starting at 10:55 GMT +2), although the rain will probably make its appearance in qualifying – which would be a first this year.

4th – NICOLÒ BULEGA (1’28.814)

“We got a good start and I must say that, especially with the morning temperatures, I felt really at ease on my Kalex. Q2 should be a done deal, but tomorrow we will try to work some more to improve the race pace and get ready for qualifying… Let’s wait and see how the weather will be like, too, as there could be a surprise in store.”

19th – EDGAR PONS (1’29.558)

“Little by little we are getting closer to the front in terms of times, especially as last week we were very far and now we’re ‘only’ half a second away or so. The goal will be to try and go for the direct seed to Q2 in tomorrow’s FP3. We’re finding some adequate settings to improve my feeling with the bike and the times have gotten better so far. Let’s keep our heads down and continue this way.”
