GERMANY-NETHERLANDS: RODRIGO LOOKING FOR CONSISTENCY, ALCOBA BACK TO ONE-OFF ROOKIE STATUS
The Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 Team is heading to the Sachsenring in Germany for the first of two back-to-back rounds before the summer break, which will begin following the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen.
These are two of the most iconic events of the Moto3 World Championship despite both missing from the calendar in 2020 due to the global pandemic: their return is surely good news for Gabriel Rodrigo, who narrowly missed on a podium finish in Holland in 2019 (he was 4th) and always had a great feeling with the German track as well. Jeremy Alcoba, on the other hand, will face plenty of question marks as he never turned wheels on either circuit.
Both standard bearers of the Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 Team had some recent on-track success, with one podium each in the last two races. The goal will be of course to keep improving their results.
GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (8th in the championship standings – 51 points)
“There is great desire to do well, or shall I say even better since we’re coming from a couple of positive events. We have shown we can be competitive at two very different venues such as Mugello and Montmeló, so I see no reason why we can’t do the same in Germany and the Netherlands. On paper they are even more favourable for us as the straights are shorter and therefore slipstreams won’t be as key, which is something that may be even beneficial for us.”
JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (11th in the championship standings – 39 points)
“We’re back to a rookie status, which means I have to watch a lot of videos and play videogames in order to start uncovering some of the secrets of both tracks – which has been my favourite pastime this week. There are obviously a lot of question marks when it comes to new tracks, but we’re in a positive moment and the idea is to continue this way and especially to avoid mistakes.”
