VALENCIA MOTO2 SEASON FINALE: SALAČ 13th, ZACCONE JUST OUTSIDE THE POINTS
RACE – #ValenciaGP The last Sunday of racing for the 2022 season saw team Gresini Racing Moto2’s taking to the track with plenty of emotions: Salač had to deal once again with strong pain in his injured hand, while Zaccone tackled his las race aboard with the Faenza-based squad’s Moto2 machine.
The rider #12 had an excellent start to the race from sixteenth place on the grid. He was on attack mode during the opening lap and managed to make his way up to twelfth as he crossed the line for the first time. Unfortunately, the pain in his hand started to make its presence felt and prevented him to ride at his best. Still, Filip Salač did not give up as he rode through the pain and bagged three points in the season finale.
Alessandro Zaccone had a more challenging race: the Italian rider struggled to get up to speed in the first part of the race due to a lack of feeling at the front-end of his bike. The feeling improved in the last laps as the Kalex #61 crossed the line sixteenth and very close to the points.
13th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (20th in the championship standings with 45 points)
“It was a good day, although quite difficult due to the strong pain in my hand. We still finished in thirteenth place and scored three more points. I don’t have enough kind words to thank the team for all that they have done to me in this first Moto2 season; we achieved great results and my maiden podium in the middleweight class. We did a phenomenal job and I cannot wait to start working for 2023.”
16th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (24th in the championship standings with 9 points)
“I was a little disappointed to finish the season this way: I struggled in the early laps feeling-wise with the front tyre. Things went better in the final laps as our pace improve, so much that we narrowly missed on a top-15 finish.”
