THE PACE IS THERE: TEAM FEDERAL OIL FOR THE COMEBACK

It looks to be an uphill Sunday for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 who in the Czech Grand Prix qualifying saw both riders stuck in Q1. It is a pity, especially for a Nicolò Bulega who failed to gain access to the final session for only 86 thousandths of a second. The Italian, who proved – especially yesterday – to be a lot quicker than what showed this afternoon, could not finish any higher than 19th with still a lot of work to do ahead of tomorrow’s race.

A twenty-seventh place on the other hand for Edgard Pons, who showed great and consistent improvement throughout the three free practice session, before being unable to capitalise in this afternoon’s Q1 session. For the two Federal Oil standard bearers the good news is about their competitive race pace, which will give them the opportunity to battle for points tomorrow.

19th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (2’02.341)

“It definitely hasn’t been the type of Saturday we were looking for, especially after finding some good settings yesterday during FP2. It’s a shame that we were not able to capitalise in FP3 and later in Q1. We are still missing something in order to be quick, even though our race pace is not so bad and we hope to recover many positions tomorrow.”

27th – EDGAR PONS #57 (2’03.057)

“It is surely a difficult weekend and we were kind of expecting it. We mainly worked for the race and today in Q1 we did not do a good job. Our rhythm is good but the race will be tough, although I know we can do well if we get a good start.”
