TEAM FEDERAL WORKING HARD AHEAD OF PORTIMAO

The European season for the intermediate class of the MotoGP World Championship is about to get underway and after many years in Spain, this season the first event in the Old Continent will take place at Portimao, in the south of Portugal. The track that hosted the 2020 season finale – and where, ironically enough, a collision eliminated both Di Giannantonio and Bulega – is waiting a charged-up.

On one side of the pit-box, Fabio Di Giannantonio will try to confirm all the good things shown in Qatar, especially in the first race as he claimed a podium finish that was sorely missed in the Moto2 garage of Team Gresini. Nicolò Bulega, on the other hands, needs to leave behind two unfortunate races, which were heavily hampered by technical issues, if he wants to bounce back.

At the start of last month, Di Giannantonio was in the leading positions in the official test, while Bulega was out of the game due to a Covid-19 false positive. Moto2 proceedings will get underway at 10:55 local time (GMT +1) this Friday.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“Portimao is a fantastic track which I love, and I must say that last year it was an excellent weekend up to the race, and I was fast. I hope to get there with great positive energy and to find back the feeling of Qatar, where we got better day after day. This week I trained hard, so I’m ready to dive into the weekend and do well: it will be important to have the bike perfectly fine-tuned so we need to work well straight from the get go. I can’t wait.”

NICOLÒ BULEGA #11

“We really want to make amends for the poor results in Qatar. It’s true that we basically didn’t lap during the preseason, so we won’t have much data to use. We have a good base to start from, and we’re working well with the team so I’m positive for this first European race.”
