TEAM KÖMMERLING GRESINI MOTO3 CLOSE TO JACKPOT IN QATAR

It was an incredible opening race for Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 who saw both riders in the top-six at the finish line. After a non-exciting performance in qualifying, and with a bit too many issues experienced during the racing weekend, both Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba have shown their pace in the race.

Gabriel Rodrigo was fifth at the chequered flag. After solving the chattering issues that hindered his performance in the previous two days, the Argentine rode a smart race as he kept himself in the back of the pack for the whole encounter before beginning his charge to the front with three laps left. Rodrigo led the penultimate lap of the race #QatarGP, but as the riders crossed the line for the 17thtime he was passed by several opponents and was unable to battle for the win in the final metres of the race.

Jeremy Alcoba’s race was a lot more eventful. Following a good start that catapulted him in the top ten, the Catalan rider dropped down to 14thplace due to a mistake and then even further down to 19thafter a collision with Vietti. Alcoba managed to stay focused, however, and make his way back to sixth at the line.

Unfortunately both Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 received an after-race penalisation of one position as they exceeded track limits during the final lap. The final result is this: Rodrigo 6thand Alcoba 7th.

6th– GABRIEL RODRIGO #2

“It was a very positive race at the end of a difficult weekend. I wasn’t feeling comfortable, but we worked hard with the team to find a solution. In the race I used the rear brake less, which is usually something I normally do naturally, but it was making the bike vibrating a lot more. In the end we rode a smart race and when you can’t win, it’s important to still be near the top. We don’t want to make any mistake and today we started well.”

7th– JEREMY ALCOBA #52

“I’m very happy with the work done because the bike was incredible under brakes… It was on the other hand on the straight due to my height. My start could have been better but I need to be able do it with this bike. I was expecting a more aggressive pack but it looked like the most aggressive was me. Too bad for those two mistakes, which I guess were coming from the extreme desire to do well. In the last two laps I could have done a bit better, but with Gabri ahead of me I didn’t want to make any mistake and protect a good result for both.”
