TOP5 RESULT FOR ALEX A CONFIRMATION IN AUSTRIA

A positive weekend draws to a close for Alex Marquez and Team Gresini MotoGP. With today’s fifth place, the Spanish rider confirms the positive trend of results (he was fourth yesterday) and make another small step forward in the standings by narrowing the gap to Miller’s eighth place down to only four points.

The #73 was definitely among the protagonists of today’s race as he did all he could to defend his podium position for half race before Bezzecchi and Marini had their way, fighting inch after inch.

Fabio Di Giannantonio’s encounter was an uphill battle from the start as he found himself basically stuck in traffic inside turn one. Today’s 17th place was not enough to take some points home. The last two events before the long extra-European season will take place at Montmeló and Misano.

5th – ALEX MARQUEZ #73 (9th in the championship standings – 92 points)

“It was a really long race and it’s a shame I couldn’t get on the podium… We tried in every way possible. Maybe we missed something at the start as losing touch with Binder’s group penalised us. I had to race by myself without any chance to save tyres. The goal today was to push hard but also find some consistency of results and after yesterday’s fourth place, today’s top five leaves us with a good taste in our mouth, even though we always want more.”

17th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49 (16th in the championship standings – 37 points)

“I had a great start and a great turn one, but at the first esses I had to basically stop to avoid crashing and from then on, it was an impossible comeback, especially with due to the track conditions. We lapped again in the top-ten times, but we couldn’t have done any better given our starting position.”
