FORTUNE HAMPERS BULEGA’S PERFORMANCE AT RED BULL RING

The ingredients for a good race were all there: pace, decent starting position and especially a great will to do well for Nicolò Bulega and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2. Unfortunately, after few laps an unexpected mistake happened: with a very late braking manoeuvre Lowes ends up colliding with Navarro just in front of Bulega, who is forced against his will to slow down and loses around ten position. From then on, it was all about stubbornness and ‘not give up’ attitude for the Italian who manages to finish in the points with a bittersweet 13th place.

A disappointing 19th place for Edgar Pons, with the Spaniard suffering from a front brake issue. Pons had to ride in a conservative way in the second half of the race, while trying to not take too many risks and at the same time make up as many places as possible.

13th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11

“A pity, because once again the result does not reflect our potential. Today we could have easily been in the top ten, but I lost a lot of ground due to a rider who decided to brake 50 metres later and hitting two riders ahead of me. From 21st to 13th is a good comeback, but we need a bit more luck.”

19th – EDGAR PONS #57

“We were battling for the points, at least until the second half of the race. Then a front brake issue appeared and it was tough from then on. We don’t exactly know what happened, but we need to work so that in Misano things can go smooth so that we can be in the top 15, which is our goal.”
