Gabriel Rodrigo was among the quickest riders around the Spanish track: after topping tge timesheets in FP1, he finished the day sixth overall with a 1’59.1secs lap-time – exactly two tenths shy of Oncu’s provisional pole position. The Argentine rider mostly focused on his race pace and on the chattering issues that have been limiting hus performance in recent outings.
Jeremy Alcoba is currently 0.999secs away from the lead on an opening day that helped hik pinpoint exactly where on the track he needs the improve. The local rider needs to better hus personal best time by at least six tenths of a second in order to get the direct seed to Q2.

“It’s been a positive day as we focused on some ‘chattering’ issues that we experienced at Silverstone and that came up here too. Obviously these issues vary depending on track conditions and tyres, but they’re there and we need to get rod of them especially for the race. We’re quick as usual on the single lap: we were quick in FP1 but in FP2 the wind prevented me to set a good lap, but we’re there.”

“It’s been an overall positive day. We’re happy with the feeling with the bike even though we need to keep working on the rear-end of the bike because we’re very quick everywhere but two turns – where we lose a lot of time and it’s there we need to improve. We can have a good weekend, something we’ve been looking for for quite a long time now.”
