INDONESIAN RACING GRESINI MOTO3 STARTS WITH A BANG: RODRIGO THIRD, ALCOBA SEVENTH
#QatarGP Free Practice Friday. A convincing start for Team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3, who gets a couple of good results in the first official day of Grand Prix action for 2021. Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba were third and seventh, respectively, in the combined times of today’s free practice, two results that almost guarantee both of them to be seeded directly to tomorrow’s Q2, getting underway tomorrow at 17:55 local time (GMT +3).
There was a lot of teamwork for the Moto3 squad, with the Argentine and the Spaniard making the most of each other’s slipstream on many occasions, which helped them logging competitive lap-times. Rodrigo, who led FP2 for a good part, then finished with a lap-time of 2’04.907, only 0.068secs from provisional pole; Alcoba was slightly behind and separated by slightly more than a tenth of a second from his teammate (0.114s).

“We started from a good base found on the last day of testing and things went really well today. We solved the issues we had on fast corners, and now we have a much more stable bike, which I trust 100%. We are all very close at the top, so we’ll need to keep working well because a bunch of milliseconds can make a big difference. We worked together with Jeremy and I’m happy that he’s also near the front, it means that the direction is the right one.”

“This morning, after a few metres I was feeling already good with the bike, like it was somehow a different motorcycle from testing. Even with the worst tyre combination I found myself really well. In the afternoon, with the better set of tyres, we did really well and we were among the best Honda machines. It could be an excellent start to the season and we can do very well this year.”
