LOWES HALF A SECOND FROM THE TOP IN #THAIGP PRACTICE

Extreme heat and hard work were the two key factors for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 who at the Chang International Circuit did not enjoy the best of starts to the fifth-last event of the season.Sam Lowes was, as usual, among the most active riders on track, although he did not manage to finish higher than 19thin the combined times of today’s free practice sessions – even though his gap from the top is less than half a second.

With so many riders in a fraction of a second the fine-tuning will be crucial to allow the #22 to make it to Q2 and get a good qualifying. The “focus” will be on gearing and front-end feeling, two areas in which Lowes struggled the most.

Free practice 3 (taking place at 10:55 local time GMT+7) will be crucial to make a step forward with the settings of the Federal Oil-liveried Kalex machine – if the weather will allow to do so.

19th– SAM LOWES #22

“It wasn’t a great day to be honest as we also had a coming together with another rider while I was trying to set a quick lap-time in the second session. Generally speaking, we have to work hard on the gearing and the front-end feeling. The real work starts now, as we’ll study the best solutions to spearhead our attack on Q2 during Free Practice 3 tomorrow – hoping the rain will spare us.”
