LOWES IMPROVES THROUGHOUT DAY ONE OF #ITALIANGP

The opening day of action on Tuscany’s Mugello International Circuit has drawn to a close with Sam Lowes that takes a provisional access to Q2 with the last spot available (14th). The Briton, who completed almost thirty laps in today’s two sessions, never really pushed for a quick-lap time as he knows he can still do it in tomorrow’s FP3 – which should be held under sunny conditions and mild temperatures.

The standard bearer of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 has worked on some different gearing settings and has mostly lapped with used tyres, while finding a more-than-acceptable pace ahead of what is going to be a very important racing weekend.

FP3 are getting underway at 10:55 local time, with Lowes who will try to gain direct access in Q2 after missing out at Le Mans, while the two qualifying sessions are scheduled as usual at 15:05 and 15:30, respectively.

14th– SAM LOWES #22

“It’s been a positive day on many levels. The bike has improved a lot compared to this morning, so we’re heading in the right directin. We worked on the gearbox and we also tried two different solutions, which gave us enough information to analyse tonight in order to make the best decision ahead of tomorrow. I’m still not fully comfortable in some corners, especially the last ones, but apart from that we lapped with a good pace and always with used tyres. We can be a lot faster tomorrow and we know the weather will hold.”
