LOWES IN TEXAS: “NOT MY BEST RACE”

Sam Lowes’s Moto2 race performance at Circuit of the Americas did not match expectations, as the rider of team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 did not manage to keep a competitive pace throughout the whole encounter and had to settle for seventh place. The Briton did not have a great start as he immediately lost a couple of places but managed to stay within the top five.

In the latter stages, Lowes lost a bit more ground and despite a late resurgence which helped him close the gap with Marini and Marquez, he could not finish higher than seventh – for eight important points for the riders standings.

With the opening extra-European leg of the season over, it is time to return to Spain and specifically to Jerez de la Frontera, where Lowes and teamFederal Oil Gresini Moto2 have shown excellent speed throughout winter testing.

7th– SAM LOWES #22

“The grip was good at the beginning, so it’s a shame. It wasn’t a race to remember, but after the crash in Argentina it was important to make it to the chequered flag and score some points. My pace was gone halfway through the race and despite finding some speed towards the end it was a bit too late to regain some positions. We have scored some points nevertheless and now it’s time to focus in order to be near the front at Jerez de la Frontera.”
