LOWES LOOKING FOR NO EXCUSES AFTER TERRIBLE QUALIFYING

Sam Lowes did not go higher than 24th in today’s Austrian Grand Prix qualifying. This means a big step backwards for the Briton, who had a difficult time already yesterday as he was 20th in the combined times of the first two free practice sessions – six tenths away from the top.

There will be obviously a lot of work to do in order to find the right set-up on a track that is among the favourites of the former World Supersport Champion. The many laps completed with used tyres will surely play a part in tomorrow’s race, in which the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 rider hopes to at least make it to the top-ten.

SAM LOWES #22

Terrible qualifying and I have no excuses. I had some front-end issues that we couldn’t solve but really there’s no alibi. This is a difficult track for me and unfortunately it went this way. The race will be different as we have a decent pace – not perfect surely – but we can surely make up some positions and maybe even battle for the top-ten.”
