MALAYSIA: PROVISIONAL Q2 FOR LOWES
The Malaysian weekend of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 started off well, as Sam Lowes did a good job in finishing the opening day of action in 11thplace – eight tenths of a second away from Jorge Martin’s provisional pole position.
With the direct seed to Q2 basically in his pocket – especially if rains tomorrow during FP3 – The Briton and the team led by Tommaso Raponi turned their attention on the race pace, as they completed 30 laps with used tyres almost the entire time and with a positive feeling out of it.
With the hope and the aim to see Lowes on track directly at 13:55 local time (GMT+8) for Q2, there will be time in the morning to work on some fine-tuning ahead of the race.
11th– SAM LOWES #22
It was quite a positive day. We worked mainly on our race pace as we lapped a lot with used tyres and found a good pace, even though the final position came from two consecutive quick-lap attempts on my own. I’m very positive for the weekend: there’s still to improve the front-end feeling, especially on fast corners and while changing direction. We’re still working on it in order to enjoy a good Saturday.”
