MOTO2 BURIRAM: Q2 IS NOT ENOUGH

It was a bittersweet Saturday for Team QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2 as at Chang International Circuit was represented in Q2 by both their riders, although in the end Jeremy Alcoba and Filip Salač far from top positions in 13th and 18th, respectively.

Filip Salač’s performance in the final qualifying session was an unfortunate one, after the Czech rider had set the quickest time in Q1 (1’35.823secs) a time that, if repeated, would have given him a second-row start. A crash at turn five during his first attempt of the session took him out of contention. He managed to get back to the track for one time attack, but to no avail.

Jeremy Alcoba did not shine either after showing in practice he might have been able to finish a few places higher. The Spaniard earned his spot in Q2 quite comfortably, and tomorrow will head row five in what is the 18th event of the season.

13th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’36.044s)

“I’m happy with today, because we improved a lot from yesterday. I was feeling good on the bike even though I must do something more in qualifying: one tenth better would have translated in a much better grid position. The pace is there so we’ll try to have a good race.”

18th – FILIP SALAC #12 (1’36.859s)

“Today was a disaster. We couldn’t get into Q2 this morning, while in Q1 the feeling with the bike was better. Then the crash in Q2 during my first quick-lap attempt: we still don’t know what happened, but thanks to the team for fixing the bike for the last part of the session. It didn’t work out in the end, but we tried.”
