NAVARRO LOOKING FOR IMPROVEMENT AT #CATALANGP

The first day of the Catalunya Grand Prix did not start in the best way for Jorge Navarro, who crashed out at in free practice one at Montmeló and therefore lost a lot of useful track-time in the morning – even though he escaped the tumble unhurt.

The crash at turn four left a considerable damage on the Kalex machine #9 of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, but with a lot of work in very little time the team managed to get the bike ready for the afternoon session. With a much more loaded front-end compared to the morning, the Spanish rider managed to get a good number of laps around the Catalan track and finish eighteenth in the combined times with a 0.6secs gap from the top of the timesheets.

Free Practice 3 will be crucial to find the right feeling with the bike and attack qualifying the best way, in what is Navarro’s home GP – a very important one for both the rider and the team

18th –  JORGE NAVARRO #9

“In the end it turned out to be a positive day, despite a difficult morning. We started with a setting that was very similar to Mugello, but without the same feeling I crashed at turn four. I wasn’t at the limit, but the tumble happened anyway and it cost us basically the whole morning session. In FP2 we managed to improve and we set our fastest time with used tyres; some interesting adjustment towards the end gave us the right direction ahead of tomorrow.”
