NAVARRO FACES CHALLENGES ON OPENING DAY OF AUSTRALIAN GP
Jorge Navarro has not enjoyed the best start to the third-last Grand Prix of the 2017 Moto2 World Championship – which is currently underway at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Australia. The 21-year-old Spanish rider ended up 25th in the combined times of today’s two free practice session for the middleweight class of MotoGP, with a two-second gap from the top.
The rider of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 was unable – like many other of his Moto2 peers – to improve on his 1’35.493 FP1 lap-time: track-temperature decreasing and a crash at turn nine cut Navarro’s track-time short during Free Practice 2.
With weather forecast not looking good for the upcoming two days of action, Moto2 qualifying will get underway tomorrow at 16:05 local time (GMT +11).
25th – JORGE NAVARRO #9
“I must say it has been a very difficult day. The biggest problem was on corner entry, especially on fast turns. The bike was also moving a lot on corner exit, and surely the crash at turn 9 did not help. We now know what we need to do, so if the weather will be on our side, we will surely be more competitive.”
