NAVARRO READY TO RACE AFTER THIRD ROW QUALIFYING IN CATALUNYA

Jorge Navarro has enjoyed another positive day at Circuit de Catalunya, where the seventh Grand Prix of the 2017 Moto2 World Championship season is currently underway. The young Spaniard of the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 team has finished qualifying in eighth place – which means a third-row start for the second consecutive race – after showing great speed this morning in FP3, when he was third overall and only two tenths of a second away from the quickest time of that session.

The higher temperatures encountered in the afternoon, thought, have turned the tables a little bit, with Navarro able to improve his morning lap-time by one tenth of a second as he claimed eighth place at the chequered flag, with only a 0.294secs gap from the front row of the grid.

The young Spaniard has nevertheless shown a good pace over the weekend and he is now ready to give it all in the 23-lap Moto2 race, which is scheduled to get underway at 12:20 local time (GMT+2).

8th – JORGE NAVARRO #9

“This morning things went really well but this afternoon the higher temperatures have affected almost everybody, including myself. We didn’t manage to be quick on the single lap, but our race pace is good. To be starting from eighth place is not a bad thing, even though I was expecting a bit more given how the weekend was going. The goal for tomorrow is to get a good start and try to stick with the front group to have an “easy life”, if that can even be possible. I need to stay very focused.”
