TRACK LIMITS SEND FERRARI TO THE BACK OF THE GRID IN JEREZ

#SpanishGP qualifying. It was not the Saturday performance expected from an experienced MotoE rider such as Matteo Ferrari, who will start the opening race of the season from the back of the grid. Last year’s runner up in the series made a mistake at turn four as he exceeded track limits and his 1’48.6secs lap time – which would have placed him on row three – was scrapped by race direction.

The rider #11 of Team Indonesian E-Racing Gresini knows how to put together a comeback from the back of the field, so a great race is expected tomorrow from 10:05 local time (GMT +2). A good debut, on the other hand, for Andrea Mantovani, who will try to score his first points of his MotoE career from the 12th place of the grid.

DNC – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (No time set)

“The bike improved a lot in qualifying and the feeling was very good. We did a good lap, but unfortunately I ran onto the green stripe at turn our so I will start from the back o the pack. It already happened last year at Le Mans, so we’ll need to keep our focus and make up as many places as possible in order to score some valuable points for the general classification.”

12th – ANDREA MANTOVANI #9 (1’49.090)

“Surely this is a different qualifying format to the one I was used to and we need to work to adapt to this new situation. It was quite an experience, even a positive one. Honestly we gave our best, but it’s not easy to find the limit with only one quick-lap attempt. It will be a challenging race tomorrow and even more so because we’re starting from the back, but we’ll do our best to score some points.”
