PHILLIP ISLAND: ANOTHER DIRECT SEED TO Q2 FOR DIGGIA, ALEX OFFICIALLY BACK

Fabio Di Giananntonio is surely the man of the hour as he managed to put together yet another excellent Friday performance that will allow him to battle for the top grid positions in qualifying two – which he will access via direct seed. The Italian rider was seventh quickest in today’s combined FP times, half a second away from the top and with great confidence aboard his Ducati machine.

Good news come also from the other side of the pit-box, where Alex Marquez was firstly testing his on-track physical condition. The Spaniard managed to lap consistently and with little pain. The 15th quickest lap-time does not worry him, with Q1 that will represent a further opportunity for some extra mileage and to get a good feeling with the Desmosedici machine #73.

Due to bad weather forecast, the programme of the weekend changes with the full race that will take place tomorrow after qualifying, while the sprint race is moved to Sunday

7th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO (1’28.452s)

“It was a great day on a crazy track, which I really love. I get really excited when I ride on it. I was expecting something better aboard the bike this morning, but the potential was clear as we were quick with used tyres. In the afternoon we were able to put all the piece together and managed to be competitive with every tyre. Q2 is sealed, so mission accomplished.”

15th – ALEX MARQUEZ (1’28.661s)

“It was a very positive day; we had the confirmation that physically speaking I can be on the bike. I was expecting more pain, and I gave it for granted that I needed a bit more time to find the rhythm. The second session was long and complicated, but we’re here and the goal is to try and get into Q2.”
