MOTO2 DEBUT AT LE MANS FOR GRESINI RACING ROOKIES
Free Practice – #FrenchGP Today marked the debut of both Gresini Racing riders at the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans on a Moto2 bike, and as every debut, it came with challenges as both had to tweak their riding style to the requirements of the category.
Both riders, however, got off to a good start as they were 1.2secs away from the top in FP1. As track conditions worsened in the second free practice sessions, they had more of a difficult time as neither of them could improve timewise. Alessandro Zaccone finished the day in 25th place, with Filip Salač right behind and only 0.012secs in arrears. They will have another chance to make it into Q2 from the main door tomorrow morning.
25th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’37.356)
“After a positive first session, things were a little weird in FP2. The track changed a lot and I was struggling under braking. We tried some changes, but there’s still a lot of work to do ahead of tomorrow.”
26th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’37.368)
“It’s been another difficult day, and lately it’s been happening a lot! Track conditions in FP2 were kind of tough and I was unable to settle into a nice rhythm. We still experienced some front-brake issues but we were able to fix that, so I tried to put together a good lap and improve but I crashed at the penultimate corner. We will try again tomorrow morning.”
