Q2 AND 13th PLACE FOR SALAČ IN BARCELONA QUALIFYING

Qualifying – #CatalanGP Team Gresini Racing Moto2 has completed the second day of action for the Catalan Grand Prix at Montmeló, with the afternoon’s qualifying being affected by scorching temperatures (51°C on the asphalt and 51% of humidity, around 20% higher compared to FP3).

The good feeling between Filip Salač and his Kalex machines at the Circuit de Catalunya yesterday carried over on day two, as the Czech rider set the ninth-quickest time in Free Practice 3 (1’44.327secs) and was therefore seeded directly into Q2 for the first time in his Moto2 career (after Qatar). The rider #12 wrapped up qualifying in thirteenth place as he set his personal best time during the third lap. Alessandro Zaccone had a more challenging day and will line up in twenty-eighth place on the grid: his comeback will begin at 12:20 local time (GMT +2).

13th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’44.702)

“FP3 went well; I felt good with the bike straight away and we managed to qualify to Q2 directly for the second time this year, and I’m really happy about it. Qualifying were more difficult as it was veery hot and the grip dropped after a few laps. This is anyway our best qualifying performance after Qatar, and that means we’re improving. We’re aiming higher, however, but we’ll keep working on it step by step.”

28th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’45.861)

“Unfortunately it was another disastrous qualifying: I really struggle to find the feeling with the bike, we tried another adjustment compared to the morning but it didn’t work. We’ll have to go for another comeback race tomorrow.”
