PROVISIONAL Q2 FOR SALAČ AFTER DAY ONE AT JEREZ

Free Practice – #SpanishGP It has been a demanding day under the scorching sun at Jerez, where Filip Salač managed to secure a provisional seed to Q2 after finishing 11th in the combined times of today’s two FP sessions, despite having to break in the rotors of his bike brakes. The rider #12 made the most, on the other hand, of the afternoon session to test his race pace: the feeling is good ahead of Sunday.

Jeremy Alcoba had more of a rocky start and finished the day in 17th position, and therefore currently outside the group of riders that are seeded directly to Q2. The high temperatures encountered in the afternoon prevented the Spanish rider to improve his lap-times, but he will have another chance at it tomorrow in FP3.

11th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’42.113)

“It was an extremely hot day here in Jerez: this morning, the conditions were good, the track was fast already from the opening laps. I had fun but at the same time I had to break in the brakes rotors so I couldn’t push as hard during the first three laps – meaning I lost the potential in the new tyre – but we still managed to be quick. In the afternoon, it got a lot hotter: we tried the race set-up, the pace isn’t bad so I can’t wait for Sunday, we’re ready!”

17th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’42.487)

“This weekend didn’t start the best way, we had our struggles. This morning we were able to be quicker than in testing, but that’s not enough; in FP1 I had a hard time in finding the right confidence with the bike. It got hotter in the afternoon, conditions were a lot more difficult: we’ll try another small modification tomorrow with the goal to get into Q2 without having to battle through Q1.”
