PROVISIONAL Q2 FOR SALAČ, SEVENTH IN QATARI DEBUT

Free Practice – #QatarGP The opening day of free practice has drawn to a close for team Gresini Racing who are back on track for the first time with the Moto2 bikes at Losail. The first session was a difficult one due to high temperature and a still not fully clean track. The feeling improved in the evening as both riders improved their performances significantly.

Filip Salač finished the day in seventh place and he is therefore at the moment in the Q2 lot following a challenging first session in which he tried to get comfortable aboard a very different bike compared to what he rode last year. With the track conditions improving in FP2, the rider #12 focused on the time attack and scored an encouraging result.

On the other side of the garage, Alessandro Zaccone had more work to do in trying to find the perfect lines around the track. It was a demanding day for the #61 but equally an exciting experience to be racing under Qatar’s floodlights.

FILIP SALAČ #12 (P7 – 1’59.666)

“I’m quite happy with this first day. This morning we focused on getting comfortable with the bike without pushing to the limit. The track was still dirty and the temperatures quite high. We focused on the time attack in the second session, I did a few laps only but the feeling was really good. The team did a great job with the bike – it is perfect!”

ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (P25 – 2’01.041)

“We made a really big step forward if we consider that this is my first time here. The feeling with the bike is still not perfect and we have plenty of work to do, especially on the setup, if we want to make another step. I like the track a lot and I’m learning something more lap after lap; we still have quite a bit of track time before Sunday so let’s see how far we can go!”
