CHALLENGING QUALIFYING FOR SALAČ, ZACCONE IMPROVES

Qualifying – #SanMarinoGP The second day of action at team Gresini Racing Moto2’s home track has drawn to a close. After showing good speed in free practice, Filip Salač had a subpar performance in qualifying and was only 17th at the end of Q2. The rider #12 was expecting a similar grip level as in the morning’s session, so the hard-tyre choice ended up not working in his favor also due to some drops of rain falling on the circuit – which made its surface a lot more slippery. He will line up on row six of the grid tomorrow, ready for a comeback race.

Alessandro Zaccone managed to improved his performance today but was left out of Q2 for only two tenths of a second. The rider #61 was finally able to recover the feeling with this bike and that led to a significant improvement lap-time wise. He will try to score a few points in front of his home crowd, with the race scheduled to get underway at 11:20 local time (GMT +2).

17th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’37.260)

“It was a disaster of a qualifying session. The grip was a lot lower compared to FP3: we had the rear tyre on and I wasn’t able to put together a good lap. I would like to apologize to everyone but I’ll do my best to make amends in the race!”

22nd – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’37.152)

“It was a good qualifying. I’m only sorry that I wasn’t able to go through Q2, for very little. The bike has improved, but it’s a shame that I wasn’t able to find the feeling sooner. We will try to make another step forward tomorrow.”
