A COMEBACK HALTED BY PHYSICAL PROBLEMS: SALAČ FORCED TO RETIRE

RACE – #GermanGP Scorching temperatures have been the key player in today’s German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, with 51°C on the track as the riders lined up on the grid for the race. Team Gresini Racing Moto2’s standard bearers took their place in sixteenth (Salač) and twenty-sixth (Zaccone).

Alessandro Zaccone made a little step forward compared to previous encounters: the Italian managed to get into a good rhythm and keep it for the whole race, which he finished in nineteenth place.

Filip Salač had a good start to the encounter and he was already up to 14th place at the end of lap one. Then a back issue made things a lot more challenging: the Czech rider tried to ride through the pain, but it ended up being too much as the #12 had no option but to retire from the race with laps to go, when he was still fighting for a spot in the top 15. After a promising but somehow disappointing weekend, he leaves for Assen with a bittersweet taste in his mouth, but also knowing he has a very competitive bike: his Kalex machine was in first place in the ‘Event Best Maximum Speed’ section.

19th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61

“It was quite a difficult race: unfortunately once again I couldn’t find the feeling I was looking for and today’s heat didn’t help. We’ll try again at Assen.”

DNF – FILIP SALAČ #12

“The feeling was good and it showed on lap one. Then I had a little highside at turn one: in order to avoid crashing, I made an awkward movement that caused me a huge pain in my back. I was unable to ride and to hut the brakes. I would like to apologize to the whole team: this weekend was perfect and we were ready to make that step and make it into the top ten. I’m really sorry, but we’ll try again at Assen.”
