RODRIGO, FRONT ROW AFTER FREE PRACTICE TUMBLE

Silverstone, qualifying. Team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 is back towards the front of the grid at Silverstone, with Gabriel Rodrigo qualifying in second place while Jeremy Alcoba also does well with a seventh place.

It was not an easy day for the Argentine rider, who fell off his Honda machine in FP3 and had to go through Q1, meaning he had to put twice the effort for this result. His 2’11.368secs lap-time was enough for him to secure second place on the grid for the #BritishGP, but the good news also come from the fact that Rodrigo was able to consistently lap under the 2’12secs barrier with an interesting pace ahead of tomorrow’s race.

Great job also for Jeremy Alcoba: the young Spaniard made it directly through Q2 with a time of 2’11.4 and then capitalise in the decisive session despite the usual on-track traffic. He will line up on the third row of the grid tomorrow for the race, getting underway at 11:20 local time (GMT +1).

2nd – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (2’11.368)

“We did a good progression and probably without the crash in the morning we would have been directly in Q2. The strategy had to change a little but we stayed focused an in Q1 we were able to find both feeling and pace. We set several 2’11secs lap-times which is something important ahead of the race; Fenati here is really strong, especially in the first sector.”

7th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (2’11.850)

“It’s not a front-row start, but it’s good anyway. Honestly I didn’t want to start too close to the front because every time we do so, then something happens. Row two would have been ideal, but seventh is still OK. We worked well throughout the weekend and we kept improving, plus we have a good pace to be part of the game tomorrow.”
