RODRIGO DOMINATES JEREZ FREE PRACTICE
Jerez de la Frontera 30 April. Team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 leads at the end of the opening day of the #SpanishGP. Gabriel Rodrigo was the ‘showman today with the quickest lap of the two FP sessions combined (1’45.651) – and was second at the chequered flag of the first one.
This is a very important result for the Argentine rider as FP1 and FP2 were held under very different track conditions and temperatures. The rider #2 did well in adapting perfectly to the changing scenario and still stay at the front, even though there is still something to improve, especially on fast corners.
Jeremy Alcoba did not enjoy the same success today. The local hero was still 14th – last spot for a direct access to Q2 – but almost one second away from his teammate (+0.949s). The #52 will try to fill the gap tomorrow from FP3 – scheduled to begin at 9:00 local time (GMT +2).

“It’s always important to get a good start especially here at Jerez de la Frontera where this year – unlike some of our opponents – we did not test. This is a track I lie a lot, but I was suprirsed to be so quick already from the morning sesion. I must admit that the track was completely different in the afternoon and we struggled a little at the beginning, but we have an excellent base and we adapted pretty quickly also the FP2 conditions. We will do some fine tuning tomorrow, but we’re ready.”
14th – JEREMY ALCOBA (1’46.600)
“It was a very challenging day even though we’re technically in Q2. This is not too important, however, as the FP3 will count this time out but we’ll have a chance to improve. Gabri did a very quick lap, so we will try to study some more to understand where we can improve. We have some small issues that all together make a big one, so all we have to do is to keep our heads down and work hard.”
