RODRIGO ON RACE FORM ALREADY AT BURIRAM

The first of four consecutive extra-European Grand Prix got underway for Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 today with the #ThaiGP free practice that saw Gabriel Rodrigo placing a foot in the door of Q2 – taking place tomorrow at 13:00 local time (GMT+7) courtesy of a very competitive performance.

The Argentine rider, who is still looking for perfect fitness, completed more than 30 laps across the two sessions and found his best lap-times in the afternoon as he topped the FP2 timesheets on his way to fourth overall in the combined classification – only three tenths away from Migno.

For Riccardo Rossi it was a day of study as he turned a wheel for the first time at the Thai circuit. The performance by the Italian was not too bad as he lapped consistently and logged a 1’44.080 which was slightly more than a second away from the front runners.

The rider #54 will need to focus tomorrow on the second and fourth splits, as he turned out to be the quickest in the first second and only a few thousandths of a second slower in the third. There will surely be time to improve tomorrow during FP3, taking place from 9 o’clock.

4th– GABRI RODRIGO #19

“During FP1 I wasn’t fully satisfied as I rode on my own. Then in FP2 I got more confident as I kept lapping by myself and with the harder tyre option. With the softer tyre I even set the quickest time of the session, but it was more about the feeling than the result. It was more about time, but I think we’re coming back and I feel a lot better physically compared to Aragon.”

25th– RICCARDO ROSSI #54

“Honestly I’m very happy with today as we worked very well. With used tyres we were lapping on the lap-times set by Gabri and then we tried a new tyre, but we need to do very well in order to put together the right lap. Generally speaking, though, the track suits me well and I feel really good on the bike: the direct access to Q2 is within reach.”
