ALL SMILES FOR RODRIGO: POLE AT RED BULL RING
The positive trend continues for Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 in the second back-to-back round at Spielberg as Gabriel Rodrigo claims pole position in today’s qualifying session for the Grand Prix of Styria.
After struggling last week in the race – despite always well performing on the single lap – the Argentine rider showed once again to have what it takes to be protagonist in qualifying by sealing his fifth career pole position, the second one abroad Gresini’s Honda machine. His 1’36.470secs lap-time was enough to edge both Fernández and Suzuki, even though for only a bunch of milliseconds.
Jeremy Alcoba did not shine nearly as much as his teammate: a corner exit mistake and a lot of traffic on the track prevented him from finishing higher than 14th and with a much slower time compared to yesterday (1’36.482), which would have placed him right behind Rodrigo.

“After the last few races we needed a confidence boost. We had few too many issues in the past weeks and I must say that sfrom FP2 onwards we have been im the ballpark. We still haven’t done anything because the race is what really matters, but it surely is a good starting point. Let’s hope it won’t rain although some degrees less would be beneficial. We had a tyre issue in Brno for the race and last week an engine problem on the straight. Now we have a new one nadad we’ll be aiming at the top.”

“Right now I’m not very happy. The crash by Masia forced us out of track as a precaution and things went the way they went. In any case we’re doing better than last week, we are better positioned on the grid and that’s important, but it’s clear that we could have been a lot higher up.”
