SATURDAY BOWLING, MARQUEZ “ONLY” FOURTH

It was quite a peculiar sprint race today at the Red Bull Ring, which was mainly characterised by crashes. The penalty that were not awarded to some riders this Saturday likely took away the joy of a podium to Alex Marquez, who had a great race to fourth place.

The Spaniard, who was starting from the middle of the front row, did well in avoiding ‘problems’ at the start and to put together a solid pace. Six more points that give extra confidence ahead of tomorrow’s race.

Fabio Di Giannantonio also did well in his comeback to 11th place. After a disastrous qualifying this morning (adding to the crash at the end of FP3) he did not give up and had a brave performance but unfortunately with no points in his bag. He is now aiming at the same final position in tomorrow’s encounter.

4th – ALEX MARQUEZ #73

“Track conditions were really difficult today, with a lot of heat. I knew straight away that the track would have been challenging and I made a few too many mistakes. I would have liked to push to get back to Martin, but it was really hard and I chose to seal fourth place and find some good points also as a confidence boost for tomorrow.”

11th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49

“The goal was to finish close to the top ten and we did it. We had a very similar pace to the second group (from fifth to tenth) and it’s a shame we had to start from so far back. I rode well, even though it was hard to manage the tyre pressure matter. All in all it was a positive Saturday.”
