DISAPPOINTING SATURDAY FOR TEAM KÖMMERLING GRESINI MOTO3 AT ARAGON
It is now time to think about Sunday and forget the qualifying day at Aragon which – no doubt about it – did not match the expectations. Yesterday, both riders of Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 managed to shine in free practice and, with the rain fell this morning, were part of the 18 riders battling for the #AragonGP pole position.
There was no glory though in what was an unexpectedly hot afternoon at Motorland Aragon (weather forecast were telling a different story) as Gabriel Rodrigo and Riccardo Rossi could not finish higher than 14th and 18th, respectively. An overall negative result as both riders were between one and one and a half seconds quicker yesterday.
The Moto3 race will get underway at 11:20 (GMT+2), a brand-new starting time: the race pace is there, although starting from rows number five and six will surely be a factor.
14th – GABRIEL RODRIGO #19
“We could have done a lot better but we still missing something in order to find the right slipstreams (and not to give too many) especially on a track where they are so crucial. I would have loved to start a lot closer to the front ov iouslu but we have a good paca and we will use the warmup to find something more ahead of tomorrow’s race. I feel better fitness-wise compared to Misano so I’m sure I’m going to have an easier time.”
18th – RICCARDO ROSSI #54
“Compared to yesterday we made a big step backwards and the morning rain didn’t help as when I started Q2 today I didn’t have the same feeling as yesterday aboard the Honda. We tried, but during my best lap McPhee closed the throttle in front of me and I lost a lot of ground. Let’s see tomorrow, we will try the hard tyre option in the warm up, which should be the one to go with for the race.”
