SCORELESS SATURDAY FOR TEAM GRESINI RACING MOTOGP

Sometimes it happens, and today was definitely not the right day for Team Gresini as both riders Alex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio finished the sprint race outside the top nine. The Spaniard and the Italian, who were tenth and 13th at the line, respectively, have battled hard and put on a show up to the chequered flag with Marini and the other Marquez, unfortunately without reward.

As it often happens in the sprint race, some extra collisions have hampered the performances of the Gresini duo, with Alex slowed down by an all-KTM “sandwich” while Fabio was collided with his teammate while they were fighting for the top ten.

The good expectations given the third row start stay for tomorrow’s 2pm race, in which things can and must go better.

10th – ALEX MARQUEZ #73

“There’s always some coming together in the sprint race; today I immediately lost the leaders and we didn’t have the pace to bridge the gap in such a short race. We need to improve something especially on the front-end od the bike in order to really be competitive tomorrow, but we’re in the good direction: the feeling was better today compared to yesterday.”

13th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49

“We did a good race no doubt. Too bad for that coming together with five laps left because we could have bridged the gap with Enea and Zarco and maybe battle for points. We had a good pace and that bodes well for tomorrow’s race.”
