MAIDEN TOP-TEN FINISH FOR SALAČ IN MOTO2 AT ASSEN

RACE – #DutchGP Cloudy skies covered the TT Circuit Assen in the last racing day before the summer break. Team Gresini Racing Moto2 riders got to the grid for the 12:20 GMT+2 start, ready for battle.

After a not-so-great start from 12th place, Filip Salač dropped down to 16th place. From then on, his comeback started: lap after lap, he managed to set convincing lap-times and recover some positions. He eventually crossed the line in 10th place as he capitalized on the good feeling and speed shown throughout the weekend.

Alessandro Zaccone also made a step forward. The work done with the team gave him a competitive bike thanks to which he was able to get into Q2 yesterday and start from 17th on the grid. Expectations were high, but a technical problem forced him to an early retirement with 11 laps to go, when he was close to the top 15.

10th – FILIP SALAČ #12

“It was a good race! I was really nervous on the grid because it’s a tight track and we’re all entering turn one together. Then I was able to find a good rhythm: the bike was perfect and the team did an outstanding job, which allowed me to score my first top-ten finish in Moto2. I would like to thank them all, they deserve some holiday!”

DNF – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61

“I’m really disappointed: we had a good weekend until the race, the bike was really good, and I had a good feeling. Unfortunately a technical problem forced me to an early retirement. Too bad, because we made a step forward during these days and I could have capitalized in the race, with the aim being the top 15. We will start back with the same positive feeling after the summer break.
