NO GLORY IN Q2 FOR SALAČ IN GERMAN QUALIFYING
Qualifying – #GermanGP. It was a Saturday of highs and lows for team Gresini Racing Moto2 at Sachsenring, especially with regards to Filip Salač: the Czech rider shone bright this morning as he topped FP3 (as well as the combined FP times) before unfortunately failing to capitalize in qualifying. He will line up in fifth place tomorrow for the German race.
There was clear disappointment in the pit-box as this morning’s lap-time would have placed Salač in second place. Nevertheless, he managed to show a consistent pace and great potential for a possible good race tomorrow – albeit a good start is needed.
Despite being far from the leaders, Saturday brought positive news for Alessandro Zaccone. The young Italian rider managed to improve by 0.9secs from yesterday’s personal best, while the feeling with the bike seems to be getting better and more consistent.
16th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’24.344s)
“It surely wasn’t the type of qualifying we were looking for. I’m disappointed with my starting position for tomorrow, especially after the great session we had this morning. We know we can be fast and competitive and this is my home race, so I want to have a great race. A comeback is needed, but I’m positive.”
26° – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’25.179s)
“We worked a lot on the set-up this weekend, too, and the feeling has improved. We still need to keep working so that we can make the most of this adjustment, but I think it can be an interesting one… let’s hope it’ll make a difference already in tomorrow’s race. We have improved session by session this weekend and even if I’m still not happy with the result, it seems like we’re getting closer.”
