SALAČ WITH PROVISIONAL Q2 AFTER DAY ONE AT RED BULL RING

Free Practice – #AustrianGP Despite the changeable weather, Moto2 Free Practice was held under dry conditions at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, with Team Gresini Moto2’s Filip Salač who showed excellent form as he wrapped up the opening day with a ninth place and managed once again to get in the provisional lot of riders eligible for a direct seed to Q2. There is still tomorrow morning’s FP3 to seal the deal, before qualifying gets underway: a good starting position will be crucial for the rider #12 to try and score what would be his third consecutive top-ten result come Sunday.

Alessandro Zaccone also felt good aboard his Kalex machine as he finished the day in 22nd place. After a first session spent trying to master the new chicane, the Italian rider made the most of FP2 to improve in sectors three and four ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying: he will give it all in FP3 in order to make it directly into Q2.

9° – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’35.098)

“It was a first positive day: the feeling with the bike was good straight away. I managed to improve some more during FP2 but not as much as I’d liked as I couldn’t put together a mistake-free lap. This is why I cannot wait to jump aboard my bike tomorrow and see what time I’m able to record with a perfect lap.”

22° – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’35.654)

“I’m quite happy with the work done today: we were able to improve quite a bit across the two sessions. We still have a big margin and by improving my lines I can make a further step forward: we’re only four tenths away from Q2, so I’m looking forward to playing my cards tomorrow!”
