SALAČ IN THE TOP TEN IN MISANO QUALIFYING

The sun shone over Misano in today’s qualifying day, which sees both riders of Team Moto2 QJMOTOR Gresini Racing earning the direct access to Q2 thanks to a good performance in the third practice sessions, with Salač e Alcoba finishing eighth and ninth, respectively, in the combined.

The Czech rider felt good aboard his Kalex machine #12 and managed to log a 1’36.639secs lap-time which was only four tenths shy of pole position – and enabled him to secure a top-ten finish in qualifying, too. His pace is solid and consistent: the race tomorrow is shaping up to be a hard-fought one and he is eager to battle for the top positions.

Jeremy Alcoba ended the day with contrasting emotions as after securing his direct seed to Q2 (with a time of 1’36.464 in the combined) he struggled to get up to speed in qualifying and finished 18th. He will start tomorrow’s race from row six, ready to give it all in the team’s home round.

10th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’36.639)

“It was a really positive Saturday for us, we made a big step forward that enabled us to set competitive lap-times even while riding on our own. We’ll start tomorrow’s race from tenth place, which is not bad considering our pace. I’m happy with the work done and we’ll have fun tomorrow!”

18th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’37.245)

“Starting from 18th place tomorrow won’t be easy: I’m disappointed with this qualifying session, considering the good feeling we had this morning. I though we were going to perform well but I was losing half a second in the third sector alone. I did my best but we’ll be far from the front of the grid tomorrow: I will still do my best in order to honor Fausto’s colors that I will race with tomorrow.”
