SALAČ IMPROVES IN QUALIFYING AS ZACCONE RECOVERS FEELING WITH THE BIKE

Qualifying – #ArgentinaGP It was a truly intense day for team Gresini Racing Moto2, who have been waiting for the crates coming (with delay) from Indonesia until 4am (local time) before starting starting to work against the clock in order to prepare both bikes and pit-box for the first free practice session, which was followed by FP2 and then qualifying later in the afternoon.

Filip Salač is back at Termas de Rio Hondo for the first time after two years. After a promising start in the opening session, an issue with the brakes prevented the Czech rider from improving his performance. He eventually finished qualifying in twenty-third place with a 1’44.501s lap-time, as he was out of Q2 for only 0.369secs.

Alessandro Zaccone made his debut at the Argentine circuit and managed to recover the feeling previously lost with his Kalex machine. Unfortunately a steering problem compromised his QP performance, as the Italian will line up on 28th place on the grid after logging a 1’44.798secs lap-time in Q1. The new and improved feeling with the bike will allow the #61 to give his best in tomorrow’s race.

23rd – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’44.501)

“It’s been quite a difficult day for us. After a good FP1 session, we had issues with the front brake which cost us the whole FP2. I did my best in qualifying but couldn’t manage to get into Q2. We will try to keep working a bit more to have a good race tomorrow.”

28th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’44.798)

“I’m really disappointed because I had finally found a good feeling with the bike ams we could have had a good qualifying, but we experienced a steering issue. I went back to the pits immediately in Q1 without even setting a time and it took a while to figure out what happened. Once back out I managed to log two lap-times, the first of which to get the tyres into temperature. It’s a pity because the bike was finally working well and we could have had a chance to get into Q2. We’ll try again tomorrow.”

A big and special thank you goes to all the team staff who after setting the alarm at 3am, have worked tirelessly before tackling a demanding three-session day with fill focus and commitment for an excellent work done. Despite all the setbacks, they never gave up. Thank you all, you’re truly great! 🙌🏻
