SALAČ MISSES OUT ON BIG OPPORTUNITY IN SACHSENRING QUALIFYING

Qualifying – #GermanGP The second day of action at the Sachsenring had started on the right foot for TeamMoto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI RACING as both riders confirmed their direct seed to Q2. After being quick in each FP session – no matter the track conditions – Filip Salač made a mistake and crashed out at turn one, which prevented him from securing a good grid position in what can be considered his home Grand Prix. He will start the race from 13th place, ready for a comeback in front of his crowd.

One row behind there will be Jeremy Alcoba, his teammate, who struggled to get up to speed in qualifying and with a lap-time of 1’24.930secs he is only seventeenth, but eager to make amends tomorrow.

13th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’24.599)

“It was a difficult day: it was raining this morning, but we were able to be quick also in wet conditions. Then a small crash happened, for which I apologise to the team. Qualifying took place in the dry: I was feeling good, but I kept on making mistakes during the third split. I put new tyres on to go for the time attack, but I made yet another mistake as I hit the brakes slightly later and crashed at turn one. The race is tomorrow, however: we’ll try to have fun and get a good result. I would like to apologise to the team once again for the crash.”

17th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’24.930)

“It was a qualifying to forget; I struggled to find the feeling with the first tyre, then with the second set I managed to push but I found a rider in the third and fourth sectors that cost me some time. I thought I could have completed another lap but I got the flag. We’ll make amends tomorrow.”
