SALAČ FOURTH IN PORTUGUESE GP AS ALCOBA ROUNDS OUT TOP TEN

Race – #PortugueseGP The first full-lenght race of the season took place today at Portimao: the standard bearers of Team Moto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI RACING took to the track ready to give their very best, with Filip Salač starting from pole – his first in Moto2 – and Jeremy Alcoba lining up on row two, in sixth place.

The rider #12 immediately lost a few place, also due to the immense pressure of starting the race from the very front of the grid. He managed to bounce back from the halfway point of the race onwards and made his way back to fourth place – which translated in 13 points. Alcoba, on the other hand, struggled a bit more, as the Spanish rider #12 lost a few places when his pace dropped after an encouraging performance in the first part of the encounter. He crossed the line tenth, and he is ready to make amends at Termas.

With both riders in the top ten in the championship standings, Team Moto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI RACING leaves to Argentina with plenty of fresh confidence.

4th – FILIP SALAČ #12

“I’m really happy with the work done, we finished the weekend much better than expected if we look at how testing went. I must say that it wasn’t easy to start from pole, I was under a lot of pressure as it was my first time. In the first part of the race I tried to not push too much in order to avoid mistakes, but then I felt good and managed to improve my pace and recover positions. I’m with this fourth place and we’ll build upon this result in Argentina!”

10th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52

“I’m not too happy with this result: I was feeling really good in the first part of the race, so much that I thought I could battle for the top three. I chose to save the tyres a little bit, trying to ride smooth, but after six laps my feeling started to fade, lost some positions and was struggling to use the front brake due to problems in my arm. We still have a lot of work to do ahead of the next races. I would like to thank the team for all they’ve done until today: this is only the beginning!”
