SALAČ TAKES PROVISIONAL LAST AVAILABLE SPOT FOR Q2 AT SILVERSTONE
Free Practice – #BritishGP It was an important day of Free Practice today on English turf: it was key to give it all to make it into Q2 already from today, as tomorrow’s weather forecasts rain. Filip Salač made it into the top 14 with the last slot available after having a more difficult time than expected to regain the feeling with his Kalex machines after spending the break training aboard very different motorcycles. He still managed to log a 2’05.638secs that gives him fourteenth place and – provisionally – the direct access to Q2.
Jeremy Alcoba also had a challenging Friday as he struggled to find the right speed and be competitive in the first two free practice sessions. The Spanish rider will have to hope for a dry FP3 session tomorrow in order to get into Q2 from the main door, otherwise he will have one more chance at it during Q1.

“I’m very happy that the championship has resumed, but I must say it has been one of the worst Fridays of the season and I’m not happy about it. Unfortunately during the long break I trained with very different motorcycles than this one, and it wasn’t easy to find to familiarize back with it. Tomorrow will be a very different day and we’ll have to work hard for the race, also set-up wise, and adapt it to the much-colder weather compared to last year.”

“It was a strange day: I was expecting to be competitive from the get-go, but it didn’t go this way. Today I chose to lap on my own; finding a slipstream and a reference point would have helped me get into Q2, but I needed to recover the right feeling with the bike. We’re a bit behind but we’ll do our best tomorrow: let’s see if the weather will be at our side, otherwise we’ll have to give our best in order to have a good qualifying.”
