SAM LOWES CHARGED UP FOR THE ASIAN ‘TRIPLETE’

It was not the #ThaiGP he was expecting, especially considering the good performances in Misano and Aragon, so this is why Sam Lowes is looking forward to the next three back-to-back events at Motegi, Phillip Island and Sepang.

Things will get underway with the #JapaneseGP, where the standard bearer of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 has always been very competitive – he was twice fourth in qualifying in 2015 and 2016, with an eighth place as best result – so it will be necessary to find back both feeling and race pace that brought the Briton near the front of the field before Buriram.

At Phillip Island, Sam Lowes has tasted the front row before (he was third in 2015 and 2016) and knows how it feel to step on the Australian podium as he did so back in 2015. He is missing from the rostrum since Aragon 2016 – he was racing with the Federal Oil colours – hence the top-three is the clear goal for this final part of the season – including Malesia, a track that suits less his riding style.

To follow Sam Lowes in his overseas journey, the races at Motegi and Sepang will get underway at 13:20 local time (GMT+9), while the Phillip Island encounter will begin at the same time, although with a different time zone (GMT+11).

 SAM LOWES #22

“I can’t wait for this ‘triplete’, which I always enjoy. The Thai weekend was difficult, but before that the momentum was good so we want to start back from those two fourth places and be competitive again. I have good memories of both Japan and Australia, I’ve been happy in the past; Sepang being the last of the three will be the most difficult, but the goal is to do well in the first two in order to use that momentum to do well in Malaysia, too. The season is getting close to the end and we need to get on the podium, because we know we can and the team deserves it even more than I do.”
