#SANMARINOGP: RODRIGO ON TOP FORM IN HIS RETURN TO ACTION
The team missed him and no doubt he delivered. Gabriel Rodrigo made his return to action in great fashion by finishing third in the combined times of the first two #SanMarinoGP free practice sessions by logging a 1’42.990secs lap-time in the morning. The Argentine rider, still not in perfect condition, he did not look out of racing form despite the time away from the track due to injury as he completed 21 laps throughout the course of the day; only in the afternoon heat he had some limitations.
On the other side of the Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 pit-box, Riccardo Rossi
was among the few riders to improve their lap-times during the afternoon as he finished just outside the top-20 but only 0.7secs away from the top. He will have a chance tomorrow to gain direct access to Q2 if the wind – which was his main issue – will reduce his strength.
3rd – GABRIEL RODRIGO #19
“I feel good, although still not 100%. The desire of racing overcomes anything and a third place is not that bad at all. We struggled a bit with the heat, but we know what the problem is and we know what 5° do. We will focus on the fourth split and especially on the penultimate corner as I know I can improve a couple some milliseconds there. If we fix this and if I can find some more agility on the Honda, we can race at the front on Sunday.”
24th – RICCARDO ROSSI #54
“I was very excited today…the home GP surely has an effect. I must say the start wasn’t too bad as we worked more for the race but the track was a lot slower when we went for the quick-lap attempt. In FP2 we were seven tenths away from the top, though. With a little less wind and Lowe temperatures we can do well tomorrow. We need to work on the rear-end of the bike because the bike slides a lot with the heat and we need to be ready for the last part of the race.”
