MARTIN TAKES POLE NUMBER SEVEN AT ARAGON

Jorge Martin continues to be the man to beat on the single lap as he claims his seventh pole position of the season after yet another stellar qualifying performance at Aragon, and that does not take into account his fastest lap at Mugello and the two GPs he had to sit out due to injury.
The Spaniard of Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 is on record-breaking pace on the Saturday, although he is still looking for his maiden Moto3 win – despite getting very close to it on a number of occasions. With a promising race pace on his side, he is going to try again tomorrow by starting from the very front of the grid for the 20-lap #AragonGP Moto3 race.

Martin’s team mate Fabio Di Giannantonio, on the contrary, had a quite unfortunate qualifying session as he crashed out with only few metres to go in what was his last quick-lap attempt before the chequered flag. The young Italian will therefore line up on fourteenth place for the race, which will get underway at 11:00 local time (GMT +2).

1st – JORGE MARTIN #88

“Obviously, I’m happy with the pole position but with mixed feelings, because I went out on track to beat the circuit record and I wasn’t able to do so due to a crash. The important thing, however, is that I didn’t get injured: I was fast, maybe a bit too fast so I lost control of my motorcycle. I’m confident for tomorrow because our pace is great even with used tyres, so fingers crossed!”

 14th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“I was doing very well on my last lap, but then at turn 15 a rider crashed in front of me and that caused a sort of domino effect that I simply couldn’t avoid. I’m OK though, and that’s what matter s the most. A crash is never a good thing, but we’re ready for tomorrow. We’ll have to put together a comeback during the race, but that’s not really a news for me…”
