SEVENTH PLACE FOR NAVARRO ON OPENING DAY AT ARAGON

Jorge Navarro has enjoyed a positive day at MotorLand Aragón as he logged a personal best lap-time of 1’55.462 to claim seventh place in the combined times of the two free practice sessions at the Spanish venue. The Spanish rider of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 could have finished even higher if he did not crash unhurt at turn 13 during his last lap.

Despite the late setback, Navarro ended the day with positive feelings at his home track after being competitive both in the wet this morning and in the dry during the final minutes of FP2.

The team is now evaluating the data from the crash, which happened in an unusual spot of the circuit. Moto2 action will resume tomorrow with Free Practice 3 at 10:55 local time (GMT +2).

7th – JORGE NAVARRO #9

“Overall it has been a good Friday. I took a steady approach this morning with wet conditions and despite that I was only 1.3 seconds away from the top with only a few laps completed. The track was still damp when FP2 began, so it took a while before we could put slick tyres on. I was feeling better lap after lap so it’s a shame that I ended up crashing at turn 13: it was a weird tumble because I tucked the front on a fast corner, so surely we’ll need to analyse that.
