TEAM KÖMMERLING QUALIFYING ENDS IN Q1 AT SILVERSTONE

Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 did not manage to get past Q1 at Silverstone, with Jeremy Alcoba and Riccardo Rossi eventually qualifying in 22ndand 27thplace, respectively.

After yesterday’s surprising result in free practice, expectations were quite higher for Gabriel Rodrigo’s substitute rider. The young Spanish rider was within the top-ten after FP2, a result that he could have matched thus morning had he managed to cross the line before the chequered flag for one final quick-lap attempt.

It has not been so far a weekend to remember for Riccardo Rossi, who crashed unhurt in the morning at turn 17 – meaning he did not aggravate the injury in his finger, which is surely not helping the Italian perform at his best.

JEREMY ALCOBA #52

“This Saturday left a bitter taste in my mouth as the chequered flag kind of prevented me from getting into Q2 directly. In Q1 things were a lot more difficult. Having said that, we’re not in a bad place pace-wise and I really like the track. The top-15 is not an impossible goal, even though I prefer not to think about it as it’s only my second-ever race in the series. Let’s see how it goes tomorrow.”

RICCARDO ROSSI #54

“It hasn’t been the qualifying performance we were looking for. We were doing a good job this morning but thr crash ruined our plans and in qualifying we weren’t able to turn things around. I did not have any slipstream to use and it was hard to get back to the ones in front: it was too late when it happened. The race pace is not bad and we’ll try to stay within the pack tomorrow.”
