SUBPAR QUALIFYING FOR TEAM QJMOTOR GRESINI MOTO2 IN QATAR

It was a challenging third free practice session for team QJMOTOR GRESINI MOTO2, with both riders forced to tackle Q1. Filip Salač managed to save the day as he was second-quickest in the first qualifying session and made it through Q2; unfortunately he was not able to replicate the same type of performance and was 18th at the end of the final qualifying session.

Jeremy Alcoba was out of Q2 for only 39 thousandths of a second as he recorded his so far quickest lap time in qualifying, a 1’58.171, which was not enough to make it into the second QP session. He will line up in 19th place just behind his teammate, ready for a comeback.

18th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’58.519)

“It was a day to forget as we finished FP3 in 25th place. The feeling with the bike is good, we’re fast and I’m sure we can be consistently quick, but I still struggle to trust the gearshift, so I can’t fully focus on my riding. I managed to do a good lap-time, then I turned my attention to the gearshift again and I couldn’t repeat the same performance. Our potential is higher and we’ll try to show it tomorrow.”

19th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’58.171)

“I’m happy with my qualifying as I gave my all. I have a clear mind for tomorrow and I know what I need to do: it’ll be hard as we struggle to overtake our rivals on the straight, but we’ll try to get a good start in order to be able to battle for a top-ten result.”
