A SUPER DIGGIA IN QUALIFYING AT JEREZ

#SpanishGP qualifying. Fabio Di Giannantonio has clinched the fourth front-row start of his Moto2 career and does it in a so-far very positive weekend for the Roman rider. With braking and setting now behind – he solved them yesterday in free practice – the rider #21 managed to play his cards right in Q2 and finished in second place with a very narrow gap to pole position (+0.071s).

The standard bearer of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, currently fifth in the standings, will try to battle for a possible second podium of the season tomorrow, with Gardner and Bezzecchi joining him on the front row.

It was a positive Saturday also for Nicolò Bulega, who made it through Q1 but was had no more soft tyres in the final qualifying session to challenge for pole. Tomorrow, the #11 will need a great comeback rom row our, as he has also a long lap penalty to perform. The race will begin at 12:20 local time (GMT +2).

2nd – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“The goal like in every qualifying was to do the perfect lap and we almost nailed it in the first outing. The strategy was to use two new tyres at the rear, but in the second run we struggled a bit more. I’m very happy because we start from the front row and it’s going to be a good group battle at the front. The important thing was to keep a solid pace in the second half of the race and then maybe even pull away.”

13th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11

“Overall we must look at the glass half full. In Q1 we tried some setting adjustments which we hope they would work, but it wasn’t the case. Obviously the soft tyre was needed to get into Q2 so in the final sessions I had to do my lap with a used one. Too bad for not being able to play my chances with the others in the end.”
