THIRD ROW IN QUALIFYING AT MUGELLO FOR LOWES

It was not an easy Saturday at Mugello for Sam Lowes: the former World Supersport Champion began his day with a crash at turn 9 this morning during FP3.

The tumble fortunately did not affect the access to Q2 for the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, who did a great job in not losing concentration and setting a 1’51.692s lap-time, which was quick enough to place him in the middle of the third row for the Grand Prix of Italy.

The rider #22 is looking to make amends after the disastrous weekend at Le Mans, and will try to battle at the front of the field from 12:20 local time (GMT+2).

8th SAM LOWES #22

“The day didn’t start too well: this mornings crash cost me some confidence. Then during qualifying I felt good on the bike straight away. We worked very well and it’s a shame that traffic held us back in the second run with new tyres. It has been a tough qualifying for everybody so we can look at the bright side. From third row I can think about a good result because we need it after Le Mans. Our speed on the long run is a lot better than on the single lap, so we’ll aim at least at a top-5.”
